𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝙁𝘼𝙎𝙏. An FDA proposal currently on the table could make the switching of a pharmaceutical product from Rx to OTC status easier. Think about it.  If this proposal is approved, it could be the first move to “modernize” this area of regulation in a very long time. BUT. There might be some catches.  Might the new regulations permit simultaneous marketing of a product as Rx and OTC, e.g. for different indications? Seems like it might. And how about reporting of “events?”  Whatever the details, it is quite likely that the pharmaceutical industry will benefit, with the introduction of an OTC increasing the use of a class of drugs by 30%.  And the public also benefits, with “over 81% of adults” having used an OTC medication as a first line therapy.
