Addressing the healthcare staffing shortage

π—§π—΅π—Άπ—»π—Έπ™π˜Όπ™Žπ™. More than 117,000 physicians dropped out of the workforce in 2021, with RNs not far behind at over 53,000 departees. Clearly, the impact of the pandemic, coupled with the aging of the practitioner populations, contributed significantly to these exits. AND. More generally, history has seen one in five healthcare workers leave their jobs since 2020, with surveys showing a glum future picture with up to an additional 47% of healthcare workers looking to leave their jobs by 2025.

The impact of this β€œGreat Resignation?” Significant! Metrics such as medical systems’ losses in revenues and increased salary costs are showing huge shifts in the wrong direction. Softer but more important measures, such as quality of patient care and patient safety, are also being negatively impacted.

And ponder for a moment the impact on the those of us involved in pharmaceutical marketing. Our customer base is disappearing, and those who remain in the field will have a lot less time for, and interest in, paying attention to our promotional activities.
