𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝙁𝘼𝙎𝙏. On July 4, 1845, Henry David Thoreau retreated to Walden Pond. John Kaag and Jonathan van Belle, who wrote an essay in Fast Company in November 2021 on “Thoreau, Walden Pond, and the Great Resignation,” have expanded on their ideas in their new book, “Henry at Work: Thoreau on Making a Living.”
In it, they encourage readers to think differently about Thoreau – as someone who did work, who thought deeply about the nature of work, and who tried to bridge just making a living to truly living.
We at ThinkGen love to think differently. As we look forward to the 4th of July holiday, we appreciate the opportunity to be inspired by a new perspective.
Have you read Walden? Do John Kaag and Jonathan van Belle’s ideas resonate with you? We’d love to hear what you think!
