Twitter advertiser exodus deepens as Volkswagen, Pfizer and General Mills hit pause on ad spending

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸𝙁𝘼𝙎𝙏. Pfizer has reportedly become one of the many companies, including Volkswagen and General Mills, to push the “pause” button on its Twitter advertising spend. Why? Simple! Elon Musk has hit his new acquisition like a ton of bricks, firing its Board, terminating many of its executives and letting go half the total staff. AND. Rumor has it that he is rethinking his approach to “content moderation.” Does that mean he will allow more objectionable tweets? As advertising mogul Martin Sorrel sagely notes, “Clients don’t want conflict, they don’t want controversy.”
